Someone really should make a movie about this one. Whether it’s because of the music by A Flock of Seagulls has somehow made its way into your home or because an actual flock of seagulls have made their way into your home, having a Fear of Birds is widely considered to be the most common of all Fears. After Fear of Spiders, Heights, Snakes, the Dark, Public Speaking and dozens more, it’s definitely the most common.
How Many Types of Birds Are There?
Many birds have long, sharp beaks. A beak is basically another talon but it’s located on a birds face. Speaking of talons, many birds have talons which are basically multiple sharp beaks located on their hands. Hands? Birds may or may not have hands. Feet! They have feet. No edits required. Birds do have wings though which allows them to soar through the skies before suddenly plunging down on their unsuspecting prey.
Some birds really want to prove their dominance of the world by showcasing rare abilities or possessing traits humans and other animals both wish they had and Fear at the same time. A couple examples include a hawk being able to spot a small, brown mouse running through a field from hundreds of feet in the sky. A penguin can comfortably live in the frozen tundra of a barren wasteland while looking super fly at the same time wearing a tux. The tuxedo outfit was a trade-off because it can’t actually fly. A woodpecker chooses to drill its face into trees in search of food. A pterodactyl is extinct. Birds in general defecate from the skies without regard for what or who is below them. These are just some of the reasons why people have a Fear of Birds.
Can Fear of Birds Fly Away For Good?
While some people might think it would be nice if birds just all sat in one collective cage somewhere off a desolate island away from civilization, we are probably a few decades and one crazy person away from that becoming a reality. Some birds restrict themselves to specific areas or climates of the world. They are born here, they survive here and until they fly into a window, they live forever here. Other birds choose to fly back and forth between countries because they clearly don’t have normal day jobs. They wake up one morning and decide that the weather isn’t up to their lofty standards and just leave. They fly in a formation to remind society of their superiority by spelling out ‘Vereor’, a Latin word meaning to Fear or respect. But birds realize we don’t know Latin so they simplify it for us by just flying in a V as a condescending slap in the proverbial face. To answer the question: No, you’ll have this Fear forever. Probably. Maybe.
