While we do have a post about the Top 10 Scariest Monsters as well as references to some scary creatures in the first Things I Fear book, there isn’t a full post focusing on an individual creature. This is sort of the first of its kind! Unless I am horribly mistaken and forgetting about something obvious. Either way, here is a little bit about Siren Head and the corresponding Fear around it. Fear of Siren Head, if you will.
What Does Fear of Siren Head Look Like?
In case you haven’t heard the stories or are desperately trying to avoid them, Siren Head is a creature of urban legend fame. It is depicted as an extremely tall, extremely thin creature made of decayed human flesh and wire with two large megaphones for a head. Siren Head can also shape-shift and camouflage into its surroundings. Usually, this depends on proximity to other lanky objects featuring an awkward pseudo-appliance at the top. Think lamp posts, trees, hydro polls, etc. It doesn’t exactly blend in next to a mailbox or a bag floating in the wind. Siren Head is a great story to tell around a campfire especially if you preface it with this Fear of Siren Head post. Tell your friends. But actually. It really does help!
Siren Head kills its victims by first luring them in with a variety of sinister techniques. These range from mimicking the voices of friends or family, playing catchy music, playing other sounds, or even mimicking the voice of the victim itself. The latter seems like a super weird way to draw someone in. “If I’m standing here, then how am I calling myself from over there? Better tell no one and go check” seems like the kind of logic you only find in B-Horror movies. Siren Head then kills its victims in unknown ways often leaving no trace. Those who either do survive an attack or have their corpse found by some meddling kids and their damn dog are often discovered to have burst eardrums. What a way to go.
Sounding Off on Fear of Siren Head
As far as mythical beings and urban legends go, this is a weird one. Though there are documented encounters on Social Media as well as unexplained phenomena being blamed on Siren Head, there are no verified cases. There are no ‘beware of Siren Head’ signs posted in any national parks. You might see ‘beware of falling rocks’ or ‘beware of mountain lions’ but no one seems overly concerned about this guy. Siren Head isn’t on the same level as other creatures to Fear. Classic examples like the Hook Man, Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, and even Megalodon have stories that have been told for generations. While most people can say they’ve experienced at least one encounter of the paranormal variety, few can say they’ve been menaced by a 40-foot tall slim-jim with a megaphone for a face.
It seems pretty unlikely you will be wandering through a forest and find yourself face-to-megaphone with Siren Head. However, stranger things have happened in this world. If people can have a Fear of Heights or a Fear of Recognizing Someone You Know in Public, it’s entirely possible to have a Fear of Siren Head. I guess. If anyone does happen to spot Siren Head in their travels, please let me know. Mostly so I know to avoid that area entirely because, well, Siren Head…
how do i get rid of the fear
A great question! I would recommend the “beetlejuice method”. Say “siren head” 3 times. If he does not appear and kill you on the spot, you’ve done it correctly and are safe for another day. Of course, if he does appear…how fast can you run?
is siren head real
I don’t personally know anyone who definitely has seen it. But I also don’t know anyone who definitely hasn’t seen it either… Like Santa Claus. Or Europe.
I think that Ear Plugs should Defeat Siren Head! A 5 year old I was watching was telling me to be afraid of him (5 is TOO YOUNG for this but that’s what happens if you leave kids alone with unsupervised screen time! Not going to blame his mom, she’s a single mom with 2 kids and trying to take school online, but still her son is Freaked Out so I am coming up with ways to Fight Him!!!)
How do i get rid of that fear safelly? Sorry for bad english, but i really want to know
I’m not an expert, but I heard following Things I Fear on Social Media, subscribing to new posts notifications via email, and otherwise telling your friends about the site could help! Again, not an expert.
Ear plugs are a great home-remedy for most mythological creatures!
